Experience

Experience in working with Russian oil and gas transactions and the people involved with them has given Janis Richards, Consultant, valuable knowledge.

Janis Richards has worked with Russian oil drillers from Surgut, Siberia, assisting with their training on oilfield pumping equipment. She has been involved in their projects to westernize their operations to maximize oil and gas productivity. Janis Richards has also worked extensively on engineering and legal documentation. This includes translation of oilfield technical materials. This also includes reading of Russian court cases and summarization for clients.

While working in the USSR for the US Information Agency Exhibit, “Research and Development USA”, Janis Richards gained much valuable on the ground experience with the Soviet system.

Based on experience, Janis Richards, Consultant, is a valuable member of any team working with Russian clients.

Education

Janis Richards received a Bachelors Degree in Russian Studies from the University of Illinois, Champaign, with Honors, while spending summers studying Russian at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont and at the Ostakademie in Eisenstadt, Austria.

Currently, Janis is writing her thesis to complete her Master of Arts Degree at the University of Texas at Austin in Russian Studies. The title of the thesis is “Historical and Cultural Influence on Russian Democratization and Investment Law.”
